TomTom GO 630-Ideal for navigation

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

TomTom GO 630The TomTom GO 630 is one of the new navigation tools to be launched later this year. With a thickness of only 0.9 inches, there is no doubt that this device will hit market by storm! Being very portable is one of the best features that a GPS device could have and the TomTom GO 630 definitely fits the bill. Even the weight of 7.8 oz is not that much.

This device has been specially designed for automotive use. You can easily fix it on the dashboard of your car via the suction pumps that come with it. Even the memory of the TomTom GO 630 can be expanded using the USB slot on the side of the phone. This is perfect as it allows you to update the device as well. The user interface can display details regarding the speed at which you are going, distance travelled, distance from set destination, time and estimated time of arrival at the destination.

With the touch screen measuring 4.3 inches diagonally, navigation through the menus of the device is very easy. You can even add any data to your unit on the move by using the voice control features. The voice command recognition software that the device comes with is really good, as it can recognize words in your voice and act on it easily. These voice commands also come in useful, as the device can automatically warn you if you go too fast or if you are going on the wrong road. Advanced lane guidance helps you in this even more.

The build in 2 GB memory should be sufficient to store all your maps as well as other navigation software. If not, you can expand the memory via the SD memory card slot. Maps of United States of America, Canada and Puerto Rico come preinstalled in the device’s memory. Check all the TomTom GO 630 reviews available online for more information.

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

TomTom GO 540 LIVEThe TomTom GO 540 LIVE is one of the new GPS devices to be launched at the high end of the price spectrum this year. Pre installed with maps of the UK and Ireland, there is no doubt that the TomTom GO 540 LIVE is going achieve GPS stardom!

The sleek outer appearance is the first thing that catches your eye as soon as you see the device for the first time. The rounded edges looks excellent and it even feels quite solid when you hold it in your hands. The sturdy outer casing has been designed to make the device last for a while without breaking after a small fall.

The beauty of this device is more than just skin deep! There are a range of top class features that make it one of the best devices to be launched this year. One of the biggest shockers is the inclusion of a GPRS module. This allows you to download the data that you need directly to your device instead of having to download it to a computer and then transfer it. Updating your device can be done in real time as soon as the updates are available. Even with these, the biggest advantage of the GPRS is that the new HD traffic service is far better than the TMC service that most previous similar device seemed to feature.

The only downside to this is that you have to pay monthly to be able to download files. This means that the whole thing is not worth it unless you spend a lot of time on the road.

Finding the address of a particular destination is easy as you can just enter it into the device by speaking into the microphone. Read the TomTom GO 540 LIVE reviews available online to make sure that this device is exactly what you are looking for.

TomTom GO 530-Entry level device

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

TomTom GO 530Of all the devices in the Go range, the TomTom GO 530 stands out. This entry level device is better than the Tom Tom XL both in terms of design as well as features. It is ideal for anyone who is looking for a user friendly navigation tool and is not too fussed about maps of North America or Europe.

The black outer casing of the TomTom GO 530 looks really good. This is a refreshing change from the silver casing that has littered the market today. The design of the front panel has been kept simple and plain with a clutter free 4.3 inch display. This touch screen is very finger friendly, making it easy to work on even if you have large fingers. The only button on the TomTom GO 530 is the power button on the top of ht device.

The software for the device can be easily obtained from the website. This allows you to get the most out of the unit using the supplied desk dock. The only thing that you have to watch out for is that the maps on this unit only cover the UK. Buying maps for other areas can be really expensive and is not productive.

The main reason why you should go for the TomTom GO 530 is that it is extremely easy to use. You can start using it as soon as you take it out of the box. Attaching it to your automobile is easy via the suction mount and it does not form an unsightly bulge when you attach it.

To top it off, the TomTom GO 530 also has a Bluetooth chip and an FM transmitter built in. You can access your address book and even read out your incoming text messages which is a nice touch. Read all the professional TomTom GO 530 reviews available online.

TomTom gets 96% take-up for rights issue

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

increase-chartDutch company TomTom, a world leader in navigation device manufacturing, reportedly got a 96% take-up for its 5-for-8- rights offer at 4.21 euros recently. This after it has announced that it placed a remaining offering at 5.70 euros per share.
Reports said that TomTom’s 3.4 million shares via private placements, and institutional and professional investors jumped on the rump offering. While many see this as a decline on the company’s financial standing, many more consider this a regular challenge for TomTom.
The Amsterdam-based navigation device company revealed that its shares were up 2.7 at 5.85 euros as of 1034 GMT (6:34 am EDT). This mark solidified their outperformance of a 0.5 percent rise in the Amsterdam blue chip index. Market updates revealed that TomTom is struggling with 1.16 billion euros of debt after it purchased another Dutch entity, Teleatlas. The buying of the digital map maker outfit for 2.9 billion euros in 2008 seemed to have been more of a disadvantage for TomTom.
The Dutch company continues its pursuits to raise around 430 million euros from the rights issues and a private placing to reduce its debt and cope with the economic slump. The four founders of TomTom is reportedly going to hold 47.2 percent of the company shares once the rights issues will be closed. On the other hand, Janivo Holding and Cyrte Investments will hold an approximated 8.4 percent share of TomTom, as revealed by the company itself.
TomTom has been greatly known to make different types of portable navigation devices for cars, and is speeding up additional features for their products already out in the market. It has also made a concrete performance in production of handheld computers. Among other manufacturers of portable navigation gadgets and handheld computers, US-based Garmin Ltd. is TomTom’s strongest competitor.

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

apple-tomtom-iphoneIt’s good news for all of who have waited really long for the iPhone apps from TomTom. We’ve been loyal, anticipating and eager to get those turn-by-turn voice GPS from the same company we’ve purchased other reliable products from. Now the wait is over! AppleInsider just made a statement that TomTom will hit the app store later this summer!
The other thing we’ve learned is that the TomTom iPhone car kit is more super than the old iPhone version as it has its own GPS system. The manufacturer has guaranteed the new product’s edges are so far ahead, starting with its dedicated speaker. Now we can look forward to getting iPhone easier to understand and comprehend amid the noisy traffic.
Also, the new TomTom device has various maps inside to provide more updated maps and changes in routes you need to take. Download of regular updates should come much easier now as it doesn’t have to use 3G network.
On the other hand, it’s CoPilot Live that has won the tight race for first-to-launch among companies dedicated to GPS and satellite navigation systems for Android phones. Yes, it still has our all-time favorite satnav functions in the Android phones, like the GOS navi-guide, lane indicators included. We will still get as well those reality sign post information and turn-by-turn voice directions, of course.
With CoPilot Live’s release, we’re over-eager for those enhanced GPS navigation guidance and flickable scrolling menus – the ease of our drive comes into hand! Also, the CoPilot has those safety camera alerts and helpful maps at touchscreen recognition.
Of course, we get more than that as well. CoPilot Live also lets us use online features like location sharing. Didn’t you wish for this so you can see your friends on-screen and share your location with them? Well, you got it!
Price for this gadgets vary so check it at i4u.
