All truckers would not want to find themselves atop their heavy goods vehicles on a hassle. To them, it’s like getting to a dead-end considering the bulk of their HGV and the huge amount of energy to find a different route that allows their transit.
So for every HGV trucker, the question they ask all the time about satellite navigation devices is: “Is it sure to keep me from going to roads unsuitable for my HGV?”
Well, ProNav have always pursued perfecting their truck road routes. It takes into careful details that the satnav for truck drivers helps in avoiding those roads marked in the map data as unsuitable for HGVs. Where there really are no actual width restrictions in the ProNav map data, it still gives low priority to small roads when it calculates any road route. This alone should give any HGV trucker or operator advanced information of the road ahead.
Navteq map data, also used by Garmin and other leading GPS manufacturers, includes many of the roads marked as “unsuitable for HGVs”. This feature proves very helpful. And yet, it does not mean that HGVs should avoid every road and turn marked as “unsuitable for HGVs” This is because many of the marked roads do not really have actual width restriction. It simply means we are relying on the roads known to Navteq and consider the marked road worth double checking.
Still, the data right now that Navteq has always been helpful and handy to its users maneuvering those bulky HGVs. It helps a lot to get a fair warning about the fitness of the road, than getting there and really finding it restricting and difficult to pass.
Navteq has issued a statement that they are welcoming reports of new or missing map data from HGV drivers and everyone else. Like a counter-checking from the people, Navteq solicits for information on roads that are actually fine for HGVs to go through, or if there are optional routes that might be available.

I am constantly on the watch for map and software update, but have never expected a big surprise. So when I came upon the news that ProNav now comes with complete Summer 2009 map and software, it was like the coolest blast there is.
The all new ProNav’s GPSA just added to its feature this helpful map that pledges truckers won’t have to be hassled on the road by being lost. The latest map data from Navteq has just made trucking much easier for many. The “truck data” from Navteq now traces and displays height, weight and show restrictions. These latest update sure helps HGVs and other large vehicles to travel with much ease and at greater speed as it can keep moving while the map data provide them in advance the directions and information they will need.
So who said truckers and drivers of large vehicles need to be super cautious about the factual 15% changes on the road every year? With the ProNav’s highly advanced map data, the journeys are going to be easier, even if the last time a truck have gone down the same road was three years ago!
For the software part, Navevo finally heeded the customers’ want of more accessible changes on the “drive screen”. The ProNav now comes with larger symbols that are much clearer to see in the cab. With this, the map and turn symbols will sure come handy during navigation, wherever the road is.
The even greater news is that the Navevo PNN 200 is much cheaper than any of its competitors. This fact ensures us of saved time and money, which is what we look forward to whenever we get a new device or any purchase for that matter.
Once again, hats off to Navevo for perfecting their routing algorithms and hats off as well to those who are rushing to purchase it.
